Respite the fact that the country is paying its way out of revenue, as the result of drastic: economies put into operation for tins purpose last September, it is now clear that the economies then planned will actually be exceeded, and in the place of savings of £70,000,000. the figure will be approximately 78,000,000.

The broad effect of the Government’s drastic policy of economies in expenditure will be about £11,000,000 below that of a year ago.
