DRASTIC TAXATION
BALANCING U;S.A, BUDGET. (United Press Association—By .Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) WASHINGTON, March 6, Drastic taxation measures have been agreed upon by both parties in Congress and, having President Hoover s approval, have been drafted. They are designed to produce 1,096,000,000 dollars additional revenue for the fiscal year of 1933. Among the many exceptionally severe provisions are 2J per cent manufactures sale tax on most commodities, save necessities, an increase in the income taxes, a special excise tax on telegraph, telephone, cable, and radio messages.
