IMPROVEMENT IN TRADE. PATEL RELEASED FPOM GAOL. DELHI, March 4. V. J. Patel, veteran ex-Speaker in the Legislative Assembly, and an exProsident of the Congress, ha s been released from prison, but under pledge to abstain from any participation in any disobedience movement. A steady improvement in in the sale of British piece goods is reported in all big centres in India (>-■ mt Bombay, which is still suffering from the after effects of Congress rule. Inquiries show Calcutta and 'Madras are being busier than for many months past. The demand for Manchester goods is welcomed as a sign ol a waning in the influence of the boycotters, and a return to confidence consequent upon official action against picketing.
