(From “West Coast Times”, for week ending, March sth, 1S07). Teremakau—-The. Kuinara “'limes” says that the new Teremakau bridge can now be used for vehicular traffic. The approaches are n-ot completed, but are far advanced to all vehicles to cross. Harvest Home—There was a large ittendnnce at the Harvest home ball at Kokatahi, including a large contingent from Hokitika. Excellent music was ptovided by Mrs Kelly and Messrs Gibbons and Kelly, and a nost enjoyable dance resulted. Mr J. O’Brien was an efficient' M.C.
Customs Duties—The Customs duties collected at the port of Hokitika for January were as follows: Spirits £2c9 Us 7d; cigarettes, £2l 17s Cd; cigars £ll 14s 6d ; tobacco, £l9O Is; sugar, £7B 3s 4d; goods by weight general tariff, £4B 8s; and valorem, £79 19s; ether duties £T9 ss. Total £747 2s Id. Peer duty £197 15s od. Masonic —A large number of local and visiting brethern were present at the installation as W.M., of Lodge Bazaar, No 1689, E.C., held in the Masonic Hall, Ivuma.ra. The ceremony was conducted by R.W., D.G. M. Bro. J. Bevan assisted by D.D.G. m / Bro. Preston. Ross Hospital—The newly appointed matron of the Totai’a Hospital, Mrs Wile, and Miss Breeze, who lias been appointed probationer, have taken up their duties at the Ross Hospital. School Committee— The ordinary meeting of the school committee was held last evening. Present: Messrs Clark, Breeze, King, Shannon, and Ralfe. The Rector reported that the average attendance was 236, boys 131, girls 155. Mr T. Robinson tendered his resignation which was accepted
with regret. West Coast Times—The annual meeting of shareholders in the AVesS Coast Printing and Publishing Company was held last evening, Mr Michtd, chairman of directors, presiding. Messrs T. W. Beare and H. L. Michel were elected directors, while Dr Teichelmann was added to the directorate. Messrs A. B. King, and T. L. Ralfe were re-elected auditors. On the motion of Messrs E. H. Robinson and AY.'E. Renton-a vote of thanks was accorded the directors. Swimming—Officials for the swimming carnival at Goat, . Island toO 1 . morrow have been appointed as follows: Judges, Messrs Coulson ar.d Mahan; starter, Mr AA 7 . Dixon; check starter. Mr G. Mansfield ; time-keeper, Air AV. Kerr. Building Society—An appropriation by ballot in the No 2 Westland Building Society was held on Saturday. There was a good ’attendance of shareholders end Air H. L. Alichel presided. Messrs T. W. Brute (Ross) and M. Coulson (Hokitika), acted as scrutineers. Miss Hymns drew the winning number held by Mr John Hornby, of Hokitika, Church Services—Notices for services next Sunday advise that divine worship will be conducted as follows: /* All Saints, Rev.
