A-, would-be robber met his match in Mrs Goodbeliere, when he attempted a hold -up .in her greengrocery store on Upland Road, Kelburn, last night. She was busy at the.back, alone, when she heard what she, took to .be a customer enter the shop. Going to the front, she found herself face to face with a .gun,' and* a! ypung man saying “put them up!” Unafraid she challenged the man, and after a short tussle, lie ran away. “The instrument in.the man’s hand resembled a water-pistol more than anything else,” she said afterwards-! “I knew it was not a revolver. He was only a young man, and apparently had been reading some of Deadwood Dick’s tales. I looked him straight in the eye, and seeing that, I wag not afraid, ho struck me twice, once on the nose and once on the forehead with, the instrument in his hand.” She retaliated by hitting him with a pair of pliers she picked up. Tho man hid on the opposite side of the road. She sought assistance and the police were notified and are investigating. '
