EMPIRE PREFERENCE. LONDON, March 2. Inaugurating Empire preference £700,000 worth of New Zealand butter and cheese, per the Pakeha, Tairoa and Hertford, was ceremonially berthed in the Thames. Sir Thomas Wilford said that he regarded the same cargoes, in 1929, .is worth £1,120,000. He affirmed that the Dominions and Britain were able to supply all the Homeland's mutton and lamb.
