EARTH TREMORS
37 SHOCKS AT ROTORUA. By Telegraph —Per Frets Association) ROTORUA, March 3. A series of slight earthquake tremors, varying in intensity," were felt here early on Wednesday morning. Shocks numbering between 30 and 40 continued over a period of three and a hall hours. Apparently it was a purely local disturbance. No damage was caused. The Dominion seismologist at Wellington, Dr Adams, states that Rotorua reported yesterday earth tremors commencing at 3 a.in, and continuing till (5.45 a.m. The greatest intensity was from 5 a.in. to 5.311 a.in., the direction apparently hein ■ from the south-west. There were- a| proximatelv thirtyseven shocks, the longest of a duration of about two si- aids. The strongest were felt by persons in motion, and prD’res were swung from stationary positions.
