SOUTH WESTLAND NOTES
The interest in aerial transport has been advanced by the late visit of Captain McGregor. It was found possible to land with ease at both HariKari and Matainui, but there are not any suitable landing site's, at either Waiho Gorge or Weheka, the chief tourist centres. It is understood this deficiency is to be made good in the near future.
At Waiho Gorge, The Domain Board has taken the> matter up, tind’a suitable area as a landing ground is, to be cleared and levelled withifr the Domain, which will meet requirements. At Weheka, Messrs Sullivan Bros, propose preparing a large paddock formerly used as the Weheka iracecourse, for the required accommodation. A late visitor from Dunedin suggests that with landing grounds at the resorts, aeroplanes from Dunedin and further afield will be regular visitors. As soon as the Weheka landing is prepared a Dunedin aviator will fly’via the. Haast Pass, and up to the. Coast. At both tourist “’osarts petrol supplies are always stored ?o that air visitors will be able to replenish their supplies.
