PHAR LAP
MAKING GOOD PROGRESS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received 10.35 a.m.) VANCOUVER, February 29. An Agua Caliente message says Davis 'is optimistic of Phar Lap’s chances in tlie big race, as the horse thrives in the warm weather and he is feeling so good these mornings, it is all the boys can do to control him. Davis does not comment on Freeland’s displacing Phar Lap as favourite. If Phar Lap wins, ho will be sent on a triumphal tour to Chicago and New York. Nominations are filled for a dozen eastern fixtures. Crowds who assembled on Sunday were disappointed at not seeing Phar Lap paraded between the afternoon’s races. He had stepped on a stone and bruised his foot so Woodcock kept him in his stall. The principal event was the Fashion Stakes won by Cabezo, son of Carlaris, who will contend with Phar Lap. Freeland also started and was favourite, hut finished sixth, carrying 8.12 against the winner’s 7.4. The distance ' was nine furlongs and time 1.51 4-5.
