The Federal Government was criticised by tobacco growers who are condemning the revised tariff giving relief to the imported leaf, and placing the local industry in jeopardy at the very moments when success was assured, as growers in New South Wales and Victoria have a record crop in consequence of the protection afforded by the previous government. .The quality of the leaf is described as first class. The country party threatens to join Labour in defeating Government on this issue.
