(Received this day at. 9.25 a.ml LONDON, February 26. “Londoners are 'walking more, and restricting pleasures, and prefer to pay their income tax,” said Lord Ashfield, Chairman of the London Underground Railways, announcing at the annual meeting, that there weie twenty-eight million fewer passengers last year. ■Confirming the impression at the time, Lord Ashfield said that traffic wile so quiet around the Christmas period, that it seemed that Christmas was forgotten, and must have been spent at the fireside.
