PAINLEVE FAILS. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) PARIS, Feb. 20. AI. Painleve is abandoning the task of forming a Cabinet, owing to the refusal of the Eight and Centre leaders, AI. Laval, iM. Tardieu and AI, Reynaucl, to join, as V. 1.. .Painleve had not offered them the Ministry of the Interior. It fs expected that President Dounier will now invite AT. Paul Boncour or Al. Barthou to form a Government. THE NEW MINISTRY. (Received this day at 9.25 a m> PARIS, February 21. M. Tardieu lias formed a Government of fifteen members, eight fewer than the previous Ministry. Several Alinistries arc combined. One innovation is the Ministry of National Denfence, absorbing that oi \\ ar and Navy. M. Tardieu himself is the Premier, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, M. Pietri, National Defence; Mahieu, Interior’; Reymaud, Justice. The President received the Ministry at 12.30 today, and the Government meets Parliament on Tuesday M. Tardieu returns from Geneva on Wednesday.
