SEQUEL TO PICNIC
INTOXICATION CHARGE. AUCKLAND, Feb. 16.
Arrested last evening as lie was driving in Symonds street, Eeo. Pethic Cole, aged 25, a Hitter, appeared at the Police Court his morning on a charge ot being in a State of intoxication while :n charge <>l his motor car, He pleaded guilty. Detective-Sergeant Kelly said Cole was accosted by a constable at she corner of Karangahape Road and Pitt street about 7.30 p.m. He was under the influence ot liquor. “Prior to this he was observed driving his car ill an erratic manner in Upper Queen street, added Mr Kelly. He sopped once and f.heii went backwards down hill.” "I went t,o a picnic yesterday," explained Cole to the'.Magistrate. “I don’ t touch drink as a rule, hut 1 had a little and it does not take much to make me sillv."
Cole was lined £lO and his drivei s license was cancelled for s ' x months.
