Richard Howe, aged 25, a carpenter, appeared for sentence at the Police Court to-day on a charge of stealing <» suitcase and contents, of the total value of t'S 12/S, belonging to the Lesley Lingerie Company. Auckland. The 'magistrate said the probation oflieer was unable to recommend leniency for Howe in view of bis record. •‘Unfortunately. Howe has a had r<*oerd for thieving,” said Detective Sergeant Kelly, who reminded the magistrate that accused got a position as a travelling salesman, and after working a few days pawned the suitcase and samples belonging to bis employers. Counsel said that Howe was oniy working on commission, and had been unable to earn much money.
