INCREASES RECORDED.

CUSTOMS AND INCOME-TAX.

The weekly Exchequer receipts, which were issued to-night, are again highly satisfactory. Last week's revenueamounted to £33,700,000, and as the expenditure for the week was only eight millions, there was a surplus on the week which totalled £25,700,00. This reduced the Budget deficit during the week from one hundred million pounds to seventy-four millions three hundred thousand pounds. The deficit last year at i;he present date was ninety-eight milkens.

The income tax and surtax receipts continue to be satisfactory. The revised .Budget contemplated a total from these sources of three hundred and forty-five million pounds, of which »!wo hundred and sixty-five decimal three millions had been received up to Saturday. Thus seventy-nine decimal seven millions remain to be collected before she financial year ends on March 31st, ’whertas last year the ■amount outstanding mi this date was one hundred find fifteen millions. .Since January Ist, the Exchequer has received one hundred find sixty-seven decimal three million pounds, an compared with one hundred and eleven decimal five, millions for the corresponding .period of last year from these sources. The customs revenue is also shoving a weekly increase, and .thirteen millions more, have been received that at the same date last year.
