The “Bulle” Clock is quite a new entry into the field of electrical horology. The essential mechanism of the clock consists of a pendulum which is virtually a coil of insulated wire; through the coil an electric current is estah-' lished and interrupted at regular inter- > vals by an ingenious contact device. During its vibration the pendulum moves over a curved permanent magnet, and the magndt reaction set up between the permanent magnet and the electro-magnetic pendulum coil is the source of power by which tin pendulum is kept vibrating. Unlike obsole.c ami existing types of electro-magnetically maintained pendulum docks, the pendulum of the “Bulle” Clock, on receiving a starting impulse, has both the properties of a dynamo and a motor, consequently very little current is drawn from the battery. Another feature is.the propelling, electrical force generated by the vibrating coil and magnet, tending also to reduce the amount of current drawn from the battery. In fact, by adopting this novel form of propulsion, the inventors claim that it is an easy matter for one batter}' to operate the dock for ten years. The absence of complicated mechanism and the highly efficient electromagnetic principle cn which the dock functions will make this the most popular dock of the future.
