UNEMPLOYED
MARCH TO WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph—Ver Brets Association) WELLINGTON, Jun 30. The Hutt valley unemployed to-day held their march to Wellington. They were met at the Thorndon Station by two or three hundred city relief work sympathisers, who had paraded though the steets.
-Marching to Parliament House, the demonstrators were addressed from the main steps of the building pending a deputation being heard by Mr Coates. The unemployed who yesterday marched, numbered five hundred, tramped eight miles to town. Early 250 men went from Lower Hutt to Pt tone, where as many more joined them.
.Brushing aside the railway officials who asked to see their tickets, five hundred of the relief workers who had marched into Wellington from Hutt Valley earlier in the day, pushed their way through the railway gates and into Lower Hutt train at the Hamilton Station platform on Saturday afternoon. Tlie train in question is usually due to depart at 3.10., and into its three carriages surged the unemployed. Subsequently six more carriages were added to tTie train, which left Hamilton Station about 15 minutes behind the schedule time.

Fifty Hutt Valley relief workers :lt Hutt Valley met, and decided to request Mr Nash, Af.P., to obtain an amelioration of the working conditions on the relief jobs, either by increased pay, or by more working days per week. They expressed disapproval to the action of those who marched to town.
