SHOCKING TRAGEDY
MAN, WIFE AND SIX CHILDREN MURDERED. HOUSE THEN SET AFIRE. , United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph. —Copyright.! (Beceived this day at 10.15 a.m.) WINNIPEG, January 29. An assassin crept into the home of Martin Si tar, at Elma, Manitoba, fbty miles south of here, early this mroning and stabbed to death eight persons— Sitar, Ids wife, five children and a hoarder of unknown name. Two other children of Sitar s are in a critical condition as the result of knife wounds. They were rescued from their beds by their uncle, John Sitar, living nearby, when lie rushed to the house which had been set afire by the killer. Later reports states that six children are dead instead of five, elimniating the unknown boarder. The* police are searching for a hired man, name unknown, missing since this morning. The hired man. aged about 45. is said by the neighbours to be a European: immigrant. He was by Sitar for two months. There is little hope for recovery of the wounded children, who are under three years of age i The dead children were aged three | to fifteen years Four other members of the family were not attacked.
