PAHIATUA R.C. CONCLUDES. (By Teleyraph — Ft, Press Association / PAHIATUA, January 28. For the second day of the Paliiatua R.C. meeting, there was excellent weather. The course was splendid ant! the attendance good. The totalisator bandied £4,303 against £7,536 on the second day of last year, making a total for the meeting of £8,961 compared with £14,959 for the two days last year. Results Trial Plate.—s Sir Spear 1, 1 Morrath 2, S Kalnni 3 1 . Won by a bead; one and a-half lengths. Time 1.19. Pongaroa. Highweight Handicap.—4 Blacksmith 1, 1 • Royal Songster 2, 3 Mnhora 3. Won by half a length; a length. Time 1.29 1-5. Tane Hack Handicap.—l Derry Belle 1, 3 Chief Clerk 2, 4 Spearopn 3. The winner led all the way and won by four lengths; three lengths. Time 1.18 3-5. McDowell, the rider of Populace was fined £2 for irritating his mount, when twice warned by the starter, causing it to bump Golden Shadow and ruin the start.
Mangabao Handicap.—2 Jayson 1, 3 Chopin 2, 1 Arajenn 3. Won by a bead; a lengh. Time- 2.6 1-5.
Tararua Hack Handicap.—l Arvada 1, 3 Baskier 2, 4 Foulwind 3. Won by two lengths; a. neck. Time 1.2. Rodney Hack Handicap.—3 Patearon 1, 4 Thrasher 2, 6 Acrospire 3. Woii by three-quarters of a length; a head. Time 1.50 2-5. An inquiry was held into the alleged interference in the straight by the rider of Acrospire, but he was exonerated, bis horse having swerved under the whip. Electric Hack Handicap.—l Souchong 1, 3 Dainty Ways 2,2 Acora 3. An exciting finish. Won by a bead; three lengths. Time 1.17 1.5.
Farewell flack Handicap.—3 Lady Ronald 1, 6 Derry Belle 2, 4 Earthquake 3. Won by two lengths; a head. Time 1.29 1-5.
