MEN STILL OUT
RELIEF WORK STRIKE. SITUATION AT HUTT VALLEY. (By Telegraph —Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 28. Tile illmtt Valley r til if I' workers strike situation remains unchanged. •No work was done to-day at Lower •Hutt and Petone. iivight men applied at Lower Hutt and they were sent to jobs, but about dOO •demonstrators persuaded them to leave. At Petone it had been decided, that unless 20 men applied, none would be taken on, and, when only seven applied, their services were not accepted. Arrangements were made this morning by tile relief workers in both •boroughs, to havg a procession to Wellington on Saturday.At a meeting h.id at Petone this morning, Rev. T. S. Rinson spoke. He questioned whether the relief workers were adopting the -right tactics, and ■whether the Government or anyone else could solve the unemployment problem. MAJORITY AGAINST STRIKE. ■WELLINGTON, January 28. A ballot of the workers engaged was held on the Khandallah relief work job. It resulted against a strike .by 25 to 4. It ia understood that there was also a, ballot at the Island Bay job, and the voting was against a strike by .13 to 6.
