(United Press Association—-By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.)

(Received this day at 10.30 a.m.)

VICTORIA (British Columbia), Jan. 27 Sir Hubert Wilkins said to-day: ‘ I may take a holiday over the Antarctic in the fall. lam also considering another submarine expedition under the North Polar ice in the following summer. For the next under-ice expedition I have in mind the building of a special type of submarine, hydraulically propelled.” “In 1925 1 discussed with a Vickers engineer, a type ol submarine suitable for exploration work under Polar ice, and he said lie did not know where such a submarine could be built. Compressed air must be used for propulsion in place of batteries, and it would not be designed for quick dives, ft will have plenty of power but is geared for slow speed. I propose to eliminate diving rudder,' and possibly, external propellers. He estimated the cost of the vessel was upwards of £4O,<JOO.
