lb also makes it possible for the Navy to assume jurisdiction over all except -Mrs Fortescue. # ’lbis is according to a “gentlemen’s agreement” with the local authorities, providing for naval jurisdiction over the navy personnel in ah cases not involving capital punishment. There is to be a conference to-night on this subject.
Mrs Fortescue, being a civilian, must submit to e civilian trial. Tiie defence will move on Wednesday to quash tile indictment, on the ground that the court coerced the Grand Jury. MURDER CHARGES LAID. HONOLULU, January 26. In the Fortescue case, the defendants are being indicted on a charge of murder in the second degree.
