RELIEF WORKERS
COMPENSATION FOR ACCIDENT.

CHRISTCHURCH, January 26
The reserved judgment of the Arbitration Court m a claim for compensation made by John Frederick Vogel, a relief worker, against the Paparua County Council, was given in favour of die plaintiff. The case was hearu in December. It was of general interest s ince it dealt with the responsibilities of local bodies in the matter *>l compensation for injury suffered by men given work under the unemployment relief ■scheme. •
The 'Court held that the plaintili, who was receiving 12s 6d per day, lor it|)roe days a week, was entitled to compensation on an average weekly earning of 37s 6d per week, notwithstanding that he had to stand down one week in four.
