A contributor to the London weekly, "Tobacco Smoke" writes: "If any of your readers chance to visit New Zealand as I did last year, I can strongly recommend the % New Zealand tobacco. I know no other tobacco to equal it for flavour and fragrance. More important still, it is almost entirely free from nicotine, that insidious poison so commonly found in American tobaccos. The secret of its .superiority is that it is toasted or roasted just as cocoa and coffee beans are. That's why it smells and tastes so good! And it is quite innocuous, thanks to the toasting. No wonder New Zealand smokers think so, much of it. There’s no difficulty in procuring it. It’ s on / sale at every New Zealand tobacconist’s shop.” This writer refers to the four brands of New Zealand tobacco : Riverhead Gold, Navy Cut No. 3, Cavendish and Cut Plug No. 10. These are the only toasted tobaccos manufactured. They differ in strength, but are uniform in quality. It is the best. But buyers are cautioned against imitations. Several are on the market.—Advt.
