CONFERENCE OF SOCIETIES OPENS. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association l CHRISTCHURCH, January 26. Horticultural week opened this morning when a civic welcome was tendered to visiting delegates, the bodies represented being the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture and Fruitgrowers’ 'Association f *of University State Forest service, Association of Nurserymen of New Zealand, Farmers’ Union, Forestry League and various horticultural societies as well as the Director-General of Agriculture. The Deputy Mayor, Rev. Atelier, and Mr O. W. B. Anderson, Chairman of the Christchurch Horticultural Society, welcomed the delegates. Mr J. A. Campbell, Director of Horticultural, replied.
Sir Heaton Rhodes then opened the conference.
