ONE MAN LEFT TO WIN

iCASTERTON, January 22

An extraordinary accident occurred during the second heat of the halfmile cycling event at the Masterton Amateur Athletic Chib’s sports carnival on the Park Oval this afternoon. P. Eyton was leading a bunched-up field round the top bend of the Uvai when he skidded and crashed, bringing down the whole field of ten with the exception of one rider. The crowd rushed to the heap of twisted bodies and cycles, expecting that someone would be seriously hurt. All escaped serious injury, but- Lire majority received cuts and bruises. L. Mulford received an injuiy to his knee, but was able to leave the field after receiving massage. 'Saver, the only rider who did not fall rode on to wiii the race, while two others, Lett and Eyton, picked themselves up and finished the race, filling .second and third places respectively.
