N.Z. TOURNEY. RINKS WON BY WALKER. (By Telegraph — Be. Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 22. The Bowling Association’s annual tournament is nearing an end. Only the pairs championship remain to be decided. For to-day’s games, a crowd of over a thousand assembled at the St Alban’s Green to watch Walker and Deare contest the rinks title. Walker’s rink had two lives, and they lost one to Deare’s rink, in the morning, by 24/8, the game finishing on the 19th head. In the play off, Walker’s rink won by 22 to 19. The sing.es championship was won by J. Stott (Caledonian), who heat Routley 21/17, Hincliff 21/20 and Tyrrell 22/21. In the pairs competition, the games to find the green winners resulted: — Hardley 25, beat Worsley 17; Hunt 25, beat Foster 11; Deare 20, beat Lomes IS; Shaw 26, beat Gardiner 13. In the post-sectional play, Hardley beat Hunt 26/25.

In the play off of the rinks, Walker scored singles on the first two heads, Deare getting one on the third. Then came two to Walker, but Deare even* ed the scores on the fifth. Walker then drew to the front, but on the eleventh head, the scores were 10 to 8, in Deare's favour, The latter add* ed two on the next head, but five went to Walker on the thirteenth. Two went to Deare on the fifteenth head, making the latter one up, On the seventeenth, they were level —l6 all. Deare was one up on the next but four went to Walker making the total 2007. Then Deare obtained two singles but on the final bead, Walker’s scored a two, and thus won the championship by 22 to 19.
