The semi-final ftar 'the Wilding Shield was concluded at Stanley Street courts to-day, Canterbury defeating Auckland, the holders of the trophy, •by a margin of two sets. Each team won six matches, four singles and two doubles. The contest therefore was particularly keen and was played in a fine sporting spirit throughout. Canterbury will now meet Wellington in the final on the same courts. Outstanding features of fo-dnv’s play r were the defeat of Bartlett (Auckland) by H. A. Barnett, who had accounted for Stedman, the New Zealand champion, on the previous day, and the ’ brilliant display given by Angns and Barnett in defeating Auckland’s leading pair Stedman and Sturt. St-ednVin was 'right off his game and suffered his second defeat at the hands of Angas. Results were as follows:

Singles:—Angas (Canterbury) beat Stednmn (Auckland) 6—3, 6—4. Barnett (Canterbury) heat Bartlett (Auckland) 6—3. 6—2. Sturt (Auckland) heat Glanville (Canterbury) 6—2, 6—3. Morrison (Auckland) beat Patterson (Canterbury) 5—7, 6 —3, 6—3.

Doubles : —Angas and Barnett (Canterbury) heat Stedman and Sturt (Auckland) 7—5, 6—2 Bartlett and Morrison (Auckland! beat GPanv.ille and Patterson (Canterbury) 4—6, 6—3, 6—4.
