AERO CLUB

FORMATION AT HOKITIKA. ENTHUSIASM GREETS PROPOSAL. The amount of enthusiasm aroused imong 'Hokitika residents by the publicity given to, and the realisation of the air mail service between Wellington and Hokitika, reached a high degree last evening when a largely-attended meeting of residents interested in aviation was held. Mr H. T. Parry presidd. 1 he meeting devote d-its attention to m address by Mr. .Jack Renton, a certificated Hyer, who explained the purpose' of the meeting, which was the establishment of a flying school at Hokitika. His address, which dealt with the training and requirements necessary before one could become competent enough to take charge of a machine, was listened to with the keenest of intere-st. Air Renton mentioned the number of pupils necessary for the establishment of a school of flying. The required number was immediately obtained from the meeting, one joining from Greymouth. with further promises of others to follow. This was very satisfactory, and the School of Flying for Hokitika became an accomplished fact. Captain Alerccr of the Canterbury Aero Club is to be communicated with and doubtless the class for instruction will be commenced immediately. The formation of the Club was then undertaken and officers wore elected as follows: Patron : James O'Brien Esq. President: P. H. Benton Esq. Vice Presidents : Drs. Teichelmaun, Wilson and Hart, Messrs AY. S. Butler, I. A. Murdoch, -1. J. Mclntosh, D. J. Evans, W. K. Williams. W. Keller. Chairman; 11. T. Parry. Hecre'arv ;.nd Treasurer: J. Renton. It was derided that the Club be known as the Westland Aero Club.
