BALOKOVIC CUP
RACE FOR. CRUSIER YACHTS. AUCKLAND, January 18. The yacht Victory, owned and sailed by H. J. George, won the first race for the Balokovie Cup, returning to port at 9.17 this morning after completing the course of 180 mileis. The only other finisher of five starters was Waione, sailed bv R. J. Thompson. The course was (lie longest set for any ocean race in New Zealand. Tt was from Auckland to Saji Rock, olf Whangnrei, to Cuvier Island and back. The yachts started at eight o’clock on .Friday night. They met a gale elf W’hangarei and three of tue live retired with split mainsails. 'Pm til lit beat, Wcione. of wH'di >’o word bad bmui beard since Saturday, reached faugh, near Kuwait,- to-night, and will come to Auckland to-morrow. All are well aboard.
