GOLD EXPORT OBJECTED TO. [United Press Association—By Electru Telegraph—Copyright. J . DELHI, January 19. The steamer “Rawalpindi,,’’ left Bombay at tile week-end tor England, with a cargo, including bullion valued at two million, one hundred and sev-enty-three thousand sterling. The Indian National Congress condemns the Government of India for permitting the export of gold. Yesterday sixteen Congress supporters, including two women, were sentenced to six months’ hard labour for picketing the Royal Mint at Bombay, with the object of .preventing the shipment of gold. TOKTO DEMONSTRATORS CAUGHT. TOKJO, January 19. Fourteen members of the Indian Patriotic Association visited the British Embassy here to-day to protest against Mr Gandhi’s imprisonment. They demanded an interview with the Ambassador and upon its refusal, they smashed the windows and forced entry to the Chancellery. They then scattered hand bills. Th e police were then called in and they arrested four of the demonstrators. The others fled. A RUMOUR DENIED. DELHT, January 18. The rumour that tile Indian Government is likely to encourage any section of the political leaders to interview Mr Gandhi or the other imprisoned Congressmen with a view to negotiations is described as without foundation.
