She was piloted by Captain Mackintosh, and used an ordinary Puss Moth machne, with a Gipsy three-en-gine. Despite the long tour and the ninety landings and take offs made, there was not a single replacement, and no repairs have been necessary, and the machine was using the same plugs that were fitted at the beginning of the journey. In the London-Capetown service aeroplanes will cover the distance '■(f, eleven days, which, it i s hoped, later w ill be reduced to nine days. The fare lias been provisionally fixed at £l3O, including accommodation «n route. Five types of aircraft including giant flying boats, will be used during each journey .
