HOKIT IK A COMPETITIONS. Particulars of the between I?iniu and Kanieii seniors have just come to hand, but are inteiesting in that Kanieii suffered their first defeat of the season, by an innings and 44 runs.
Kanieri, batting first scored only 35 runs, no batsman reaching double figures. Knowles and Griffiths* bowled unchanged the former being almost unplayable. He finished with the wonderful figures of 9 for 16, including the double hat-trick. Of his victims eight were bowled. R inni’s innings totalled Knowles being top scorer with 33. Griffiths made 16, O’Connor 20 and In wood 10. The wickets were divided among five bowlers.
Kanie.i were 93 runs in arrears, ami were all out for 49 in their second innings (E. Morris 13). Griffiths was the destructive agent this tjme, taking 0 for 22, and Knowles 3 for 22. It iy interesting to note that Kanieri’s two innings occupied altogether till overs.
