WESTLAND COUNTY. COUNCIL.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 15th. A special meeting of the Council was held at the County Chambers at 3.40 p.m. Present; Messrs M. Keenan (County •Chairman), t W, Jeffries, J. A. Murdoch, •3. Wells M. Houston. An apology was received from Mr J. Donovan who expressed the hope that the services of Messrs Jeffries and Davidson on the Hospital Board, would not be lost to the' community. The Chairman stated the meeting was called to consider a, letter from Westland Hospital Board notifying the recent appointment of Messrs Jeffries and Davidson in the form made wa s not according to the provisions of section 25 of the Hospital Charitable Institution Act, J 926. The Clerk reported a conversation with Mr O’Brien M.P., in which the latter indicated he had been in communication with Wellington, and a way out to secure the services of the gentlemen had been suggested. It was stated Mr Davidson, in view of the treatment -he had received after his long service, was not disposed to accept office at present. The Council adjourned to enable the Chairman to consult with Mr Davidson. On resuming!!, Mr Houston moved that W, Jeffries Esq. be appointed a County representative on the Hospital Board in tho place of Mr Davidson resigned. ■Mr Wells seconded.—Carried. Mr Murdoch moved that G; Davidson •Esq, be appointed a County representative on the Hospital Board in tho place of Mr Jeffries resigned, Mr Houston seconded.—Carried, Hearty appreciation of the services of •Messrs Davidson and Jeffries was made by the members. The Clerk applied for leave of absence, same being granted, Mr Evans to report to duty when ready. ' After a matter regarding plant had been /dealt with in Committee, the meeting adjourned.
