“Weil, come now,” said Counsel, persuasively, to a defendant in a southern eivi’i ease, when the man pleaded inability to pay £2 per month to plaintiff, “don’t you think you could reduce your living expenses a bit ? Fheios tobacco now. Isn’t two shillings a we-k rather much' for you to be spending on that?" “Depends on the tobacco,” replied defendant. “There are some brands I wouldn’t give two bob a cartload for. Hut 1 don’t smoke ’em. See?" “What brands do you smoke?’’ enquired Counsel. “New Zealand toasted Cavendish, if you want to know. Mo nicotine in it. The 'toasting takes it out. ’Unit’s why. My pipe i s my only pleasure, and I can t do with less than two bobs worth a week. Hue?" Counsel didn't press the point. Doubtless he smokes himself. New Zealand toasted tobacco is certainly seductive, ft's true that—unlike the imported goods—-it contains no nicotine to -speak of. And such a flavour and aroma! There are four brands; River--I,cad Cold, Navy Cut No. 3, Cavendish and (hit Plug No. 1.0. They are all good !-—Advt.
