Left merely to the mercy of the breakers when the wind suddenly failed while they were crossing the Sumner bar, the crew of the small yacht. Listless had an unpleasant experience late on Saturday afternoon. There were three men aboard, and they were hurled forward into the Irottom of the boat by what they afterwards described as “the father of all rollers” which caught their craft on the counter as she was left with empty sails. One of them managed to get aft ami seize the tiller just in time to prevent the yacht broaching to bo fore a series of five breakers caught her. A paddle with which one of the crow attempted to keep her stem on the breakers was swept away and other gear was damaged. The situation was saved bv the incoming title, which drifted the boat over the bar before she became unmanageable.
