INQUEST APJOURNED,

CHRISTCHURCH, January 12

An inquest was held to-day into the death of Thomas Hugh Eric Monro, who was drowned at V aikuku yesterday. James Dennis Simpson said he got into difficulties in an undertow, and be had shouted to Monro that it would take them all their time to get back. Monro was nearer the shore than witness, and when he last saw him. he was standing in three or four feet of water. Witness, who could not swim, floated ashore. Neither had been out of their depth. The Coroner said lie was not quite satisfied as to the cause of death, and he adjourned the inquest sine die to enable a post mortem examination to lie made.
