PREFERENCE TO RETURNED i SOLDIERS. ! BARRING COMMUNIST 1 LITERATURE. (Australian Press Association.) CANBERRA, January 12. The Minister of Home Affairs, Mr Parkliill, stated the new Governmentwould give full preference in employment to returned soldiers. The lirst step taken by the Government in its anti-Communist* policy will he the re issue of the proclamation prohibiting .the importing of nil literature advocating the overthrow bv force of any constitutional Government. SENATE ELECTIONS. BRISBANE, January 13. G. Brown J. Ceilings and J. MacDonald, Federal Labour nominees were elected to Senate vacancies. PERTH, January 12. Sir George Pearce, P. Lynch anid W. Carroll, United Australia Party eandiates, won the Senate seats.
