HEAT WAVE

CAUSES TWO DEATHS. A HEAVY STORM FOLLOWS. (Australian Press Association.) (Received this day at 10-15 a.m.) BRISBANE, January 13. The whole of Queensland has been in the grip of a heat wave for the past week. The temperature at Charleville yesterday reached 120 degrees. Emerald registered HO and many other places over a century. An old man and a hoy died as the result of the excessive heat. There was a climax when one of the most- severe storms for many years, burst over the city. Vivid lightning was accompanied by a fierce wind and torrential rain. Within a few minutes the streets were like rivers and transport services were disorgnisod and the electric light failed in several suburbs.
