CHANGE OF NAME

REGISTRATION OF CABLE STEAMER. AUCKLAND, January 8. The cable ship Iris, which for many years has been stationed at Auckland, is tile Iris no .longer. She has been renamed Recorder. News that the name was to be changed has been received from London 'by /the .ship's minster, Captain W. Oliver Such a change is unusual, unless it is preceded by a change of ownership of the vessel. In this case it is attributed to the fact that, until recently, the Iris, holding a Royal charter, has never been registered as a merchant ship, and other vessels bear the name of iris. The Recorder continues as the property of Imperial Communications. Ltd.
