FALL IN IMPORTS
CUSTOMS REVENUE DOWN. WELLINGTON, January 4. For the twelve months ended December 31 the Customs revenue collected at the port of Wellington showed ;■ decline of £792,173 over the figures for 1930. Thu figures were £3,056,051 and £2,263,878 respectively. Imports iiave steadily declined for the past--16 months, and there is no reason to believe that the imports in 1932 will be heavier than last year. The figures for 1930 were £55.320 lower than those for 1929, those for 1929 being £3.111,377.
The net revenue collected at Wellington last month totalled £189,321, as against £231,714 for December, 1930, a drop of £42,393. A. detailed comparison for each of the twelve months is afforded by the following table:—
