CHINESE LOSSES. (United Press Association. —By Eleotrie Telegraph .—Copyright. J SHANGHAI, January 2. Harassed by Japanese three sides, anj angered by tile Government’s instigation at their inability to hold Cliinchow against the invading troops, the stall’officers of the Chinese army now retreating towards ' the Great Wall. have issued a circular telegram, complaining bitterly of the appalling Chinese losses, the resiiii of the Government's failure to respond to the urgent demands for reinforcements at the most critical period oi the present conflict. The telegram indicates terrible havoc. among the Chinese lorees, which were shelled by armoured cars, devastated by aeroplane attacks, compelling a disorderly retreat. “We learn that the Government intends punishing our commanders for their inability to hold Cliinchow, but flesh and blood cannot stand more when even the Government deserts us,” states the telegram.
