LONDON, January 2
After having heard the defence of Edward Montague Ashley-Cooper, the film actor, a Murylebonc magistrate refused to confirm a provisional maintenance order for £4 'a week made in Mossvale (N.S.W.), in favour of Mrs Nina Joyce Osborne Hussey-Cooper, cl Mossvale.
Cooper has changed his name from Hussey-Cooper. They were married in .Australia in 1927, and there are two children. The family came to England in 1930, because Cooper was unable to secure a theatrical engagement in Australia.
His wife returned to' Australia the same year. According to her evidence, taken in Australia, her husband promised to follow, but did not do so, nor did he send any money. The husband gave evidence that his wife returned to Australia without his consent. She was well known in Australian society, and, in England, missed the social gaiety. She had never written since her return, nor hud she asked for money.
