GREYMOUTH J.C. CUP TO MINfeIIVAL. INTERESTING MEETING. The Greymouth Jockey Club’s summer meeting opened yesterday in showery weather. There was a good attendance. The track was in great order, and, with the excellent fields, fine racing resulted. The Dove fell and broke its leg, bringing down Thurshy. The rider of Thursby, W. H. Jones, sustained a dislocated collarbone. There was another accident in the Borough Trot when Sissisox fell and brought down Harold Bingen, whose prospects at the time appeared bright. The totalisator handled £6OIB for the day, as against £7721 on the first day last year, which was held on December 31, a decrease of £llO3. An inquiry was held after the running of the Stewards’ Handicap. L. Daly, who rode Souchong, was brought before the Stewards for alleged interference with Toboggan, when both ivere running together. After hearing the evidence of the two jockeys, the inquiry was adjourned until to-morrow.
