NAVAL RIOTS
AFFAIR AT HONOLULU. HONOLULU, December 18. Two hundred arrests were made during a series of naval riots which embroiled Honolulu, following the dismissal of a charge against a' Japanese youth. All leave was cancelled. - The Japanese youth was released on a technicality following an alleged assault on the wife of a young naval Officer. The latter’s friends kidnapped the Japanese, stripped and beat him. then left hjm unconscious, and were only stopped from hurling him over a lObbft cliff by the arrival of police, in response xo eight, riot calls. Commander Wilson, of Pearl Harbour, took personal charge of the situation. Fighting continued throughout two days, outbreaks occurring in eight different sections of the city. The biggest' battle - was in a down-town melee, when 1000 participated. Shore patrols arrested 200.
