WESTLAND RACING CLUB
The Committee of the above Club met at the CYiib room, Hamilton Street, last evening at 8/40 o’clock. There were present: Messrs «J. <). Mclntosh (President), J. J. Breeze, 0. J. Sellers, It. Adamson, H. Butlaud, A. Yarrall, It. 'Whiley, J. Peake, J. Mclntosh Jnr., and D. J. Evans. Apologies were made for i;he absence of Messrs W. E. Williams, F. McGregor and M. Houston. Correspondence was read from Hon. 'Minister of 'lnternal A flairs and Mr J. O'Brien M.P., wishing success to the Chi iscmos meeting.—-Received. The President of the Racing Conference wrote in respect to unity of action in presenting the case for the racing clubs to 'live MembO's of Parliament.— (deceived.
'The Municipal Band wrote offering its services gratis for the late meeting.— Received with thanks. 1 Mr Thomas 'McKenzie was erected a member of the Club. The- Treasurer submitted a draft statement of the receipts and expenses in connection - with the late race meet,iti;(. IV (Wjis stated that (subject to the rebate on the totalisator tax being forthcoming from the Government, the meeting would show a substantial credit balance when all the ncoounts were cleared up. To date £7lO had been paid off the new buildings, and insurance cover had been effected over the property. When the final .accounts were received, it was expected the* building would be provided below the estimated cost at-the outset. The statement was received as satisfactory,
The Treasurer said that on the recovery of the rebate from the Government the overdue interest to debenture holders would be paid, Mr A. H. Xiincekivell, who conducted ithe publicans’ booths, submitted a final statement in connection with same, being received as very satisfactory. The return from the booths promises to be very substantial. The President considered the financial statement very satisfactory. The return was very gratifying and they were indebted to all who had helped so well in so many ways. IHe moved that a vote of thanks be recorded for all the assistance given, and that letters of thanks be sent to ad those who had helped. The united support to the Club by all sections of the community was very pleasing indeed. Mr Adamson seconded the motion, which was carried. The' Secretary reported that the autumn meeting date was Easter Wednesday, March 30th. It was resolved to submit a similar programme to that of last year, and have it circulated as soon as passed by the racing authorities. The stakes totalled £640. The meeting concluded at 9.30 o’clock.
