GREAT RESCUE

Striking a reef, during a blinding snowstorms on the Finland coast, the Finland Steamship Company’s steamer, “Orion,” became a total wreck. Terrific seas flooded the vessel and washed away her wireless room. lb was impossible to lower the boats, blit the crew burned Hares, > which attracted the attention of salvage boats. The salvage boats rescued ten of the crew, and a woman passenger. This le!t nine persons, including the captain, on hoard. A lifeline crew, of five men, put out at midnight and took off the remainder from the wreck, but, the lifeboat was missing all day long. The blizzard swept the lilelgiat out to’ sea, where those aboard remained food less and waterless until they reached a light ship, which took them on board. All of them were exhausted and some were injured. •ANOTHER BALTIC MISHAP. i ' COPENHAGEN, December 80. The Esthonian steamer, “Lire,” with a crew of 17, and several passengers, which left Hull on December lOtli, is missing.
