SUPREME COURT
SITTINGS IN HOKITIKA, A QUESTION OF CLOSING. Learning recently that there was the suggestion that the sittings of the Supreme Court at Hokitika were to be discontinued, Mr J. O’Brien, ALP., at once took up the matter with the Minister of Justice, the Hon. J. G. Cob be. To his representations he has now received the following reply:— 1 beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 9th December, pointing out that it would he a grave, inconvenience to the people of Hokitika and also to the people further south in Westland if the Supreme Court at Hokitika is closed. In reply, I beg to inform you that no sittings have been fixed for Hokitika by their Honours the Judges for the coming year and the question of closing the Court is now under consideration. Your objections to the closing of the Court have been duly noted and will be given full consideration before anything further is done.— With kind regards, vours John G. Cobbe, Alinister of Justice.
