BIG HOTEL FIRE
/ AT ENGLISH RESORT. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] * London, Dec. 27. While the Union Jack flared defiance to the flames, which shone far. over the Channel, one hundred disconsolate guests faced a gloomy dawn, watching the destruction of the east wing- of the Saint Austell’s Bay Hotel in Cornwall.
Many of those thus dispossessed, usually stay in the Riviera in France, but patriotism had prompted them to remain in England to sp.-nd this Christmas, their reward being the destruction of everything they had but what they stood up in. This was not much, because many escaped only in their night clothes, sliding down waterpipes. Four fire brigades were soon fighting the flames, amid dense smoke, while the guests shivered on chairs or settees that "ere dragged out by the firemen.
Tho hotel was erected in 1930, in record Fine, and it will immediately 'ue renovated.
