In the Sheffield Shield match South Australia, in their first innings against Queensland, have lost seven wickets for 407 runs (Richardson 75, Lonergan 13/, Whitfield 82.) COLTS V. VETERANS. MATCH AT HOKITIKA. Twenty-two players faced the eie- , meats yesterday afternoon when < a ; match between the Colts, representing the Hokitika Cricket* Club, and the Veterans played a match on the' Mental grounds. A slight drizzle fell as the Colts went in to bat, hut the rain set in i and, with a few short breaks, fell j steadily. The game was played under I miserable conditions, but the players went through with the match which ■ was won by the Colts by five runs. I The Colts won the toss, hut Walker, Adamson and Reese were the only ones to score double figures. Carley and Wilson showed that they had not lost much of their former wiles and kept things steady. The .innings closed for 86. The Veterans, captained by C. J. King, scored 81, Diedrichs being top scorer. . Accurate bowling was out of the question, the ball being greasy, an l the crease slippery.
